TEXT:

Luke 17:11-19

(NRSV)

On the way to Jerusalem Jesus was going through the region between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men with a skin disease approached him. Keeping their distance, they called out, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” When he saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were made clean. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus’s feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus asked, “Were not ten made clean? So where are the other nine? Did none of them return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well.”

REFLECTIONS:

Gratitude.

What would happen if we began to understand gratitude the way we think of Love: as a way of being, a basic dispensation, an orientation, a framework for making meaning, a lens of vision, a generator of life?

What if?

PRACTICE:

Outward Mindset Application If you were acting with the mentality of someone served by our organization, what would you do differently than you are currently doing? Institute one of those changes today.

Pathways Toward Centeredness Intellection (loving the world through our minds): Do you know anyone who belongs to a different faith tradition than yourself? Invite that friend out for lunch or coffee, and ask them to teach you how they understand the world.

Questions for Reflection What are you grateful for today? What feelings occur in your body when someone does not thank you for an act of service? What feelings occur in your body when you do not thank another person for an act of service?

Many of our reflections on each week's text come from other sources. If you're interested in reading more of what inspires us, here our our two favorite reflections.
