THE HUMANITY OF HOMELESSNESS
The feast of Luke 14 -- a banquet of love and acceptance for those who need it most -- began twelve years ago and continues every week through Church @ the Park. It is an invitation to come, sit at the table with those experiencing homelessness, and see with fresh eyes the humanity we so easily turn away from. Individuals from the community have agreed to share their stories, photos, and hopes with us. Take a moment to invite the humanity of homelessness into your home, into your family, into your community, and discover yourself at the table in a whole new way.
The Exhibit is an installation of photographic art featuring the faces and stories of real people in Salem, Oregon - friends experiencing homelessness. We have printed artist books of the photographs and stories displayed within the Exhibit, as well as additional photos and stories available anywhere the Exhibit is displayed and by clicking the link below. Proceeds from each book will be given to provide resources for the outreach efforts of the ministry of Church @ the Park.
The photographs were taken by a Portland visual artist, Blakely Dadson (@blakelydadson) and the printed material was created in partnership with Viviana Dadson, Nic Hughes and Street Psalms (streetpsalms.org).
